Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Guardians of Brentwood Science Magnet:

Welcome to the 2018-2019 School Year!  I hope you are enjoying the summer. My name is Reginald Brunson and I am the new principal of Brentwood Science Magnet.  I am very fortunate to be a part of such a terrific school and community! I am humbled to know that I have been entrusted with the awesome responsibility of serving as Principal to your children.  I am also energized knowing the wonderful administrative team, highly qualified faculty and dynamic staff with whom I will be working. Along with this amazing team, I bring nineteen years of experience in education working as a Teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District,  I was a Principal, Assistant Director, and Coordinator in two high performing Charter Organizations and a Principal in the Culver City Unified School District.  Together we all say Welcome Back!

In order to create a “great” school, the school's mission must be the result of the collaboration of all the stakeholders within the school community.  It will take all of us - you, me, our students, our faculty and staff - to focus our collective energy on the work that needs to be done with every student to ensure success.   Brentwood’s mission is to enable all students to become contributing members of a diverse society, empowered with the knowledge, values, and skills necessary to meet challenges with success. Our state-of-the-art science and computer labs support our goal of providing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education. STEM education is an interdisciplinary approach where academic concepts are coupled with real world applications. Our continued emphasis on literacy includes extensive reading in both academic and creative writing across all content areas. The student-centered environment will create an atmosphere for critical thinking, cooperative work, collaborative action, self-direction, and artistic expression.

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I thank you for your continued support as we look toward a bright and promising year for your children.   I hope you and your child experience an exhilarating year filled with personal, social, and academic growth. I look forward to meeting many of you very soon and getting to know all of the Brentwood Science Magnet Tigers.
